Requirements:
The 1st Precinct Brotherhood Thomas Rathgaber Memorial Scholarship Fund will
annually award a scholarship to a student exhibiting effort, integrity, selflessness
and leadership in the classroom and in the community.
Criteria for entrants:
- B or better scholastic average for sophomore
and junior years of high school
- Demonstrates an involvement in community,
athletics, extra-curricular activities
- Any student residing in the school districts
located within the Town of Babylon (1st Precinct
Jurisdiction), or the child of a 1st Precinct
Brotherhood member in “good standing”
Additional Information:
The 1st Precinct Brotherhood Thomas Rathgaber Memorial Scholarship Fund was
founded in the Fall of 2007 in memory of Thomas J. Rathgaber. Officer Rathgaber
was a devoted 1st Precinct Police Officer in the COPE Unit. He was
awarded “Cop of the Year” in 2003 in recognition for his dedication,
devotion and exemplary police work. Thomas was born and raised in North
Bellmore, New York. He was a dedicated son, brother and police officer
known for his incredible work ethic, selflessness, loyalty, and devotion
to his family and strong leadership qualities.
Requirements:-Submit a 250-word essay discussing
a positive & influential
role model in your life by January 31, 2009-Entrants
must prove their acceptance to a college, university
or technical school and provide a certified copy of your transcript, and a list of your volunteer/extra-curricular activities.
